Medieval Weapons, Armor, Helmets = Best Day Ever
BY WILL
We went to a medieval faire that my dad found online. It was exciting because it showed us what life was like back in the Middle Ages.
I even got to see a real life joust! (A joust is a medieval sport where two knights on horse back ride at each other with a lance, the goal being to dismount the opponent or to break their lance.) They also had a "market place" with swords and "shiny things!"
They had a leather worker who makes armor and helmets. He let me try on armor with a dragon pattern in the middle and gold studs. Also, he let me wear a fancy helmet! If I had a sword, I would've looked like a barbarian!
Serious Barbarian potential here.
It wasn't as hot with the armor on as I expected, but it was a little warm. It was pretty light compared to most metal plate armor used by Greece and Rome.
They also had a shop called "siege the day" and it sold little siege weapons like a mini catapult, a ballista, a big crossbow mounted on wheels, and a sling shot, which was awesome!
