MythBusters Exhibit by DOYLE
By DOYLE
Will, Callie, Mom, Grandmom, Aunt Di and I all went to the Mythbusters exhibition, which is based on a television science show. We went in February, and it was at the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa, Florida. Mom thought we would like it because we like the show.
The show is cool. They've done millions of experiments over 30 years. [Ed note: Mmmm, may not have fact-checked this.]
The Mythbusters think of their own ideas, and some people write in with suggestions. They test the myth and then at the end they say, "Confirmed," "Busted," or "Plausible."
My favorite experiments they have tested on the show are:
* a guy tested whether his dog could fetch a TNT stick in under 50 seconds before it exploded. (The dog could fetch it and bring it back).
* You could breathe underwater with the air from a tire (No, because when you cut it with a knife or open it, the water would rush in before you could put your mouth on it.)
* From Green Hornet, the elevator myth where he drove his car into an elevator and broke the walls and it still brought the car up and he got away safely (It didn't work in real life.)
* Also in another Green Hornet, the car was buried with a bulldozer over it, and they hit the self-destruct button. Then they hid in dirt and when the car exploded it pushed the bulldozer up and they ran away from the bad guy. (This myth was also busted.)
Some of the best exhibits in Florida were: How long could you hang on from a building? Could a plane take off from a conveyor belt? Could you pull a table cloth off a set table with a motorcycle to see if the plates wouldn't move? Could you kill a person with any ordinary playing card?
Patricia came with us!
The people who do Mythbusters are Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman, and Tory Belleci, Grant Imahara and Kari Byron.
Tory is my favorite because he is the funniest.
Overall, I liked it a lot. It was cool, and I'd recommend it. It was worth the long car trip. But they didn't tell you the answers, you have to watch the show to find that out.
